Lot Shortage Leads to Fewer New Homes

Homebuilding activity in Shelby County slowed down in 2014 as new home permits and sales lagged behind 2013's pace. Homebuilders filed 850 permits in 2014, down 8.6 percent from 930 permits filed in 2013 and down 7 percent from 914 permits filed in 2012, according to real estate information company Chandler Reports, www.chandlerreports.com .
